| Warwick is
a research-led University and attracts very high quality students.
It is also distinctive amongst research Universities in giving priority
to improving access to continuing and post-experience education
and to close collaboration with its local and regional community.
87% of academic staff currently work in departments rated 4 or 5
for research. 42.5% of all research contract income in 1992-93 came
from industry and commerce. The University plans continued growth
in postgraduate student numbers, particularly research postgraduates,
and in science and technology student numbers. Growth in research
activity consonant with the industrial needs of the region is also
planned together with an extension of research links and an increase
in collaborative agreements with other major European universities.
1000 students are registered on degree programs undertaken in partnership
with other universities and FE Colleges including 350 on 2+2 programs.
A further 16,000 students are registered on University post-experience,
vocational and Open Studies courses.
