| “The
pursuit of new knowledge and improved technology has characterized
Chalmers University since its foundation in 1829. It is now one
of the two largest institutes of technology in Sweden and aims to
stay at the forefront of international scientific development.
Close cooperation in research is carried out with universities,
institutes of technology and other research centers throughout the
world. A very important element is the exchange program for visiting
scientists. Chalmers is also closely tied to Swedish industry. The
University is involved in approximately 150 industrial and educational
projects within the EU. Chalmers makes every effort to attract motivated
students. As part of the recruitment activities, Chalmers researchers
pay visits to schools. Open house programs and scientific lectures
for the public are arranged. Around 10,200 people work and study
at Chalmers, including more than 8,000 undergraduates. Chalmers’
turnover is approximately SEK 1.7 billion per year, more than two-thirds
of which is related to research.
In GLORI, Chalmers is represented by the Department of Transportation
and Logistics belonging to the School of Technology Management and
Economics.”
